Wacom Co, Ltd., announced that its digital pen technology as well as digital ink technology have been adopted by Montblanc for its Digital Paper, extending the Maison’s writing culture mastery to a digital ecosystem. The product is true to Montblanc’s commitment to Inspire Writing, embracing technological advancements by delivering its signature handwriting experience in all forms.
At the heart of the experience is the Montblanc Digital Pen, powered by Wacom’s technology to ensure accurate and intricate pen control. Modelled on the ergonomic design of the iconic Meisterstück, the Digital Pen echoes some of its most recognisable features such as the three metal rings and the Montblanc emblem crowning the pen.
To bring signature Montblanc writing experience to life, the Digital Pen comes equipped with three distinct interchangeable pen tips. Each tip emulates a different paper texture, allowing users to adapt the pen to suit their personal handwriting preference.
Smart features make the Montblanc Digital Paper an essential companion for creativity, productivity, and organization. This device is ideal for focused note-taking, writing, and annotating presentations, e-books, and documents. Powered by Wacom’s latest digital ink technologies, the Montblanc Digital Paper delivers ultra-realistic ink strokes. Every handwritten note, marked-up page, or annotated PDF is searchable thanks to advanced handwriting recognition and an intuitive search function.
Wacom’s WILL SDK for ink, PDF library, Haptics protocol and Canvas technologies bring a state-of-the-art ink experience to electronic paper devices for the first time. Thoughts and ideas can be easily structured using templates such as calendars, planners, and journals. Files can be seamlessly shared and received via email, USB-C, or through the companion apps connected to the Montblanc Cloud.
“We are delighted to partner with Montblanc to bring their legendary writing experience into the digital age through Wacom’s digital pen & haptics technology, by combining Montblanc’s pursuit of craftsmanship with Wacom’s expertise in digital ink,” said Heidi Wang, Head of Ink Service at Wacom Europe GmbH. “We empower users to write, create, and organize in new ways, while preserving the tactile joy and individuality of handwriting. This collaboration reflects our vision to make digital writing an authentic, meaningful experience for everyone”.
“Montblanc has always celebrated the art of writing, continuously innovating to perfect the signature writing experience for which our Maison is renowned. Through our collaboration with Wacom, we carry this heritage into the digital realm. The result is a pen that embodies timeless elegance and fine materials, offering the same tactile pleasure and refined haptics of a traditional Montblanc writing instrument. Enhanced by Wacoms technology, every stroke feels as natural and authentic as writing on paper,” said Felix Obschonka, Director New Technologies at Montblanc.
The Montblanc Digital Paper is available from September 18th, 2025, at selected Montblanc boutiques worldwide and online. For more information visit www.montblanc.com
